AFD-PSIA Scholarships in Development for African Students, France

Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po (PSIA) and the French Development Agency are offering AFD-PSIA Scholarships for African students in the Development programs of PSIA. Multiple scholarships ranging from partial to full tuition fee grants will be offered every year to incoming students. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to the best candidates on the basis of their academic record and their project at Sciences Po. The closing date for application is 8th February, 2015.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded to study Master program in Development Practice or in International Development.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing masters degree at Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po (PSIA).

Eligibility:
-The AFD-PSIA Scholarship is dedicated to nationals of African countries only. Priority will be given to students coming from the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Liberia, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
-Applicants must have already submitted a full application to the Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po (PSIA) for the 2015 intake through the Sciences Po Admissions Portal (including all supporting documents and references) and must have applied to one of the following programs in Development:
PSIA’s Master in Development Practice (one-year program)
PSIA’s Master in International Development (two-year program)
Please note that only applicants successfully admitted to PSIA will be considered for the scholarship.
-Students applying to a dual degree program are not eligible.



Scholarship Description: AFD-PSIA-Student-ScholarshipsBased on a special partnership between the Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po (PSIA) and the French Development Agency (AFD), multiple scholarships ranging from partial to full tuition fee grants will be offered every year to incoming students in the Development programs of PSIA. The AFD is the main implementing agency for France’s official development assistance to developing countries and overseas territories.

Number of award(s): Multiple scholarships will be awarded.

Duration of award(s): The AFD-PSIA scholarship is offered for the entire length of study at PSIA on condition of sufficient academic performance (top 50% of the class). Students who do not meet this requirement will have their scholarship withdrawn.

What does it cover? Multiple scholarships ranging from partial to full tuition fee grants will be offered every year to incoming students in the Development programs of PSIA.

Selection Criteria: Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to the best candidates on the basis of their academic record and their project at Sciences Po.

Notification: Results will be announced around mid-April 2015.

For all applicants:
-CV in English
-Cover letter of 1000 words in English (indicating which program at PSIA you are applying for) addressed to the members of the joint selection committee
-Completed and signed release form
For applicants coming from Sciences Po’s Undergraduate College only, in addition to the two above mentioned items (CV and cover letter), please also provide:
-Copy of the official academic transcripts for the entire length of your time in higher education (including periods spent abroad on exchange programs)
-Two letters of reference from professors. To ensure confidentiality, these letters should be sent by the professors directly by email to: heather.clarke-at-sciencespo.fr.

Appel à candidature bourses Sciences Po – PSIA dans le cadre du partenariat Sciences Po/AFD
Dans le cadre du partenariat entre l’Agence française de développement et la Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) de SciencesPo Paris qui s’étend sur la période 2012-2016, des bourses AFD-PSIA sont offertes pour permettre à davantage d’étudiants venant de pays africains de s’inscrire dans les Masters de SciencesPo suivant : le Master en pratiques du développement (Master of Development Practice (MDP) et le Master en développement international (Master of International Development (MID).
L’accord entre PSIA et l’AFD prévoit l’octroi de 5 bourses chaque année jusqu’en 2015. Elles sont attribuées à des étudiants africains, provenant par priorité de l’un des pays suivants :Bénin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, République d’Afrique centrale, Tchad,Comores, République Démocratique du Congo, Djibouti, Ghana, Guinée, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritanie, Niger, Rwanda, Sénégal et Togo.
Le partenariat entre Sciences Po et l’AFD comprend également l’élaboration de cas pratiques élaborés sur la base de projets de l’AFD par les étudiants du MDP sous l’encadrement de Daniel Kamelgarn (STR) et de Denis Loyer et deux modules de cours élaborés par le CEFEB sur la gestion et le suivi de projets.
